I was recently asked how is it possible for survivors of childhood trauma to go on to be highly successful adults? Why is it that some people appear to crumble under the weight of their experience whilst others are deeply driven by the need to create a reality that is a complete contrast to the one they lived through in their formative years? A reality which society at large views as successful.
Whilst there are undoubtedly various factors that contribute to this phenomenon, the most universal rexplanation lies within the concept of Post Traumatic Growth (PTG).
PTG is the process through which individuals who have endured significant adversity find ways to not only bounce back but to grow in profound ways.
